The flash deploys whenever the camera is opened, but can be turned off by holding the flash head in the closed position. It fires automatically in low light, but only after the diode at the right hand end lights up. There is a sensor which initiates charge of the flash, and lights a red diode in the viewfinder to tell the operator that the flash is required. The camera has a film speed decoding system (DX) which recognises 10/200 and 400 ISO only. It is recommended to use negative film which has wide exposure latitude.
